Contrary to many people I become more and more a city person as I grow older. Can’t remember exactly what I was thinking while watching the awakening of Times Square from a hotel room but most probably comparing the life in NYC to Istanbul.

Are we importing only bad habits from US? Now the Black Friday, another temptation to spend money and related to something we even don’t celebrate. Hmmm...Having said that I fell easily into the trap! One cardigan and one shawl!

Life has a way to rearrange your plans, even for these little budgies...They were thinking to visit Istanbul just for a couple of weeks but unexpectedly became part of family. Findik and Fistik, thanks for bringing fun to our lives and we'll do our best to keep you happy and healthy.

Don’t like supermarket shopping but Macrocenter is an exception. Yes, it is expensive but there is no doubt on quality and no alternative to variety. Also congrats to their agency for designing the best insert; macrostyle. I love the branch in Akmerkez most among all in Istanbul. Santa has arrived there too and in one thousand versions…

Hope the city can keep the balance between old and new…This is not the iconic skyline but the sun paints it beautifully. This kind of sunset gives you hope for the next day.

Introducing you to Baki Zekai Jr., Sekuri and Baki Zekai (fltr). These wonderful Keel Toys Policemen Bears have easily adapted to life in Istanbul (complete gentlemen compared to their colleagues in Taksim Square) and make us smile every day.

Despite all the chaos it causes, I always believed that living in Istanbul is a privilege.
And it must be a great feeling to live cheek to cheek to Galata Tower. Took this one from a friend's terrace.

I just learned Agva means ‘between the rivers’ and remembered the photo I took there almost two years ago. Such a perfect destination for short stays; 97 km distance to Istanbul. The road makes you slightly dizzy though because of the back to back bends, caution in case you are carsick.

May be old news for the rest of the world but 'Share a Coke' campaign just came to Istanbul.
Simple idea but exciting the consumer. Local and personal win every time.
Thanks to Asli Altan for the picture.
Couldn't resist to take the picture of a street florist when walking home yesterday. Every street has one or more of them in Istanbul.
